Shpongle has announced 'Codex VI' is released later this year
What are y'all thoughts on Shpongle?
Divine Moments of Truth triggered an acid flashback once when I was in the park.

What I don't get about goa/psytrance is why this music attracts a bunch of hippies. Is it just a drug thing?

>is it just a drug thing
Pretty much - I enjoy Shpongle as background music for work / study but yeah it's very much 'dude weed lmao'
i'm a pretty big fan, i love music that blends electronic and live music together like this and they generally have really good sound design. new album is looking good so far from the track they posted, seems like a return to form after museum of consciousness imo which was a slight dip to me.

you dont get why something with psychedelic in the name attracts hippies ??

Sphongle is horrible while tripping. I may just be ignorant, but I don't see that appeal at all.
I can only stand their cheese when I'm on acid.
The name alone turns me off.
Psytrance fans are massive dickheads when they aren't high

About time a new one was coming! I can't wait, i will cum to this!
i find them corny. psybient in general. especially when they put in the ramblings of some guru saying shit like consciousness is infinite and eternal.

i find when they do the metaphysical rambling samples they do it more tastefully than other artists. i would consider them one of if not the only really great psybient group/artist.

Are you me? What else like this would you recommend?

System 7's '777' and 'Power of Seven' is a similar vein of music, but I mainly listen to Shpongle for psybient
I've been jamming a lot of Andy Stott, Tim Hecker, John Adams, Steve Reich Robert Fripp and Brian Eno though for working. Ambient stuff with elements of classical, electronic or jazz/blues
Check out these albums / pieces:
>Andy Stott - Faith in Strangers
>Tim Hecker - Ravedeath 1972
>John Adams - Phrygian Gates
>Steve Reich - Music for 18 Musicians
>Eno, Moebius & Roedelius - After the Heat
>Fripp & Travis - Thread

Not him but I listen to Shpongle at work a lot too. Not sure if I'd say anything else is really "like them" but here's some other stuff in my rotation that has some relation. Everything with an asterisk is available for free in an official capacity (and the others are easy to find)
>Younger Brother - A Flock of Bleeps
>Younger Brother - The Last Days of Gravity
YB actually is half of Shpongle and someone else so it's the closest you'll get if you're not already familiar with them
>Floating Planet - Fractal Wortex *
live band/psybient blend, only an EP but pretty good
>Krusseldorf - Fractal World *
psybient album that's pretty ambient but engaging throughout
>Infected Mushroom - Converting Vegetarians (Disc 2)
>Infected Mushroom - Converting Vegetarians II
IM's forays into more psybient material are pretty high quality
>Akara - Extradimensional Ethnography
>Akara - The World Beyond *
classical + psybient. if you're one of the cheeseposters above you might not like it though, the vocals took me a bit of getting used to and i don't mind cheese
>Balancé - Good balance for all *
kinda amateurish psybient but i like it for some reason. last song has french lyrics

Flute part at the start of the new album's preview track is pretty nice.
