Except there's one thing you have to do: The musician can't play any music. Not sing a note, not even pick up an instrument. The whole thing has to be completely music free.
For me the ideal one is I want to make a movie about John Lennon's therapy sessions with Arthur Janov.

Not music related but there is a film by the brilliant Andrei Tarkovsky that centers around the Russian painter, Andrei Rublev, that is a lot like you described. Even though the movie is about an artist, there a no scenes or shots of him painting, the entire movie is a biography on his life.
But yeah, to answer your question I would probably do a movie on Jackson C. Frank.
