To be fair Discogs isn't a fantastic place to find new music but it's great for buying records (and probably CDs but I don't buy them.)
Out of this list Discogs and Rateyourmusic are the best though.

That can be found on Rateyourmusic.

Wikipedia is a good resource for first hearing of genres and finding the genre's most famous artists. Delving deeper requires the "Holy Trinity."

That was surprisingly nice. Apparently there would be no pushing for any particular artist because Spotify has no deals but a very tiny flat rate payment per stream.

Go on your fav artists' profile and try to multiply the number of listens of their #1 song by 0,0049$. (Basically nearly 5 grand for 1M streams).
That's their gross revenue on their biggest hit, or net if they're self-released and fully independent. Divide it by how many months it's been on there and think about it.

I would add Scaruffi to Average Tier, Soundcloud to Shit Tier, Redacted (what.cd equivalent) to Holy Trinity, Soulseek to God Tier, Rutracker to God Tier, and Bandcamp to shit tier.

literally the bets way besides going to an actual music store and picking up blind buys. oh wait no one on here trys to explore any new albums besides the same 20 that are constantly posted. New shit comes out every single day kiddies.

Christgau is actually against even feigned intelligence in music, this is an actual review he wrote of hot rats:

"Doo-doo to you, Frank--when I want movie music I'll listen to "Wonderwall." C"

wtf? what a fucking idiot
>>
1- How do you find new music through Discogs? It's a marketplace first, a poorer version of RYM second
2- RYM ratings for hot albums will spike and plummet if p4k or Fantano give then good/poor reviews(though RYM should be paid no serious attention now that it's known they manipulate their rating algorithms to give rap and pop albums the highest ratings and suppress "white" music like indie)
3- How fucking entry-level are you if the bands you're discovering have Wikipedia pages?
4- I'd unironically put 4chan in God-tier but since this board is full of "4chan and reddit are the same" mouthbreathers I doubt that'll be well-received
5- Why am I responding to bait pictures again?

find a genre you like, click the genre tag, look through thousands of albums, download the ones that look cool or your interested in. the end. Alternatively pick a label you like and look through that on there.

I agree Fantano is a terrible way to find music.

But I think he's a good resource for finding out more information about an album.

If he's reviewed an album I'm about to listen to, I'll usually watch his video before for an idea of what to expect and so I don't need to research as hard myself.

>>74357205

the discover algorithm used to be legit 20 times better. It wouldn't group the albums by similarity to another artist you listened to, it would just have a huge fuck-off list of albums, and you click and hold to hear a sample.
it was fucking incredible and had almost 100% amazing recommendations. it's a real shame they replaced it with this shitty one
