Whats /mu/'s thought on Primus?
Their attitude changed from "we're Primus because we're weird" to "we're weird because we're Primus" over the years
They aren't bad now either, but Frizzle Fry is obviously their best work
They suck
>>74342931
I personally think that Sailing the Sea of Cheese is as good as Frizzle Fry but they are the peak of primus
>>74342954
they have primus socks
most underrated Primus album coming through
>>74342894
So can we agree these are the best Primus songs?
>Primus - To Defy The Laws Of Tradition

>Frizzle Fry

Saw them two days ago with my brother. They're an important musical stepping stone for me, personally and are an incredibly tight live band.

yeah To defy is my fav i remember thinking he was saying : To defy The Laws Of Tradition it's a crusade on the older breed... it did make sense and i was disapointed when i found the real lyrics
>>74343888
now i get trips but when i need them on a fap roulette thread... never

This one time I tried to get my rockist friend into Slint, and then he kept on saying it sounded like Primus
>>74343991
Tweez does sound kind of primusy
>>74344070
the first song I showed him was good morning captain
How do you guys get past Claypool's voice? Every time it's his voice that stops me cold, I have to turn off the song it's so bad.
>>74344106
>spoiling the album closer for him
Some of the riffs on spider land sound like a depressed primus riff imo
I was actually listening to frizzle fry album earlier and thinking about that.
>>74344129
There's nothing wrong with it though? I mean, there's nothing to get past, so I don't.
>>74344158
keep in mind that he's a rockist and he doesnt give a shit or have any patience to listen to an album from beginning to end. with that in mind I just skipped over to good morning captain
>>74344129
If the voice fits the music then I have no problem. Like Tom Petty, Claypool has a weird voice but it works and is easy to get over it.
Cringe-core alongside Ween, Tool, Mars Volta, ....

THey're like an edgy Jam band version of the Residents
>>74343158
>most underrated
Is it really? It's my favourite one, some killer tracks there.
>>74344106
he isn't completely wrong though
i love Primus, see them every time they come to Cleveland
>>74343158
It's really great.
>>74343511
I prefer Tommy the Cat and Harold of the Rocks.
>>74344129
Claypool voice is totally fine by me but I like King Diamond as well.
>>74345259
The Residents are edgier than Primus.
I've been a fan of primus fro a good while now and I only found out about this recently, worth a listen imo
Good stuff

I agree with you here. If it was all instrumental, I'd really enjoy Primus. I recognize his talent, and they do legitimately have some catchy jams. But I cannot stand his singing on a majority of their stuff.
*Claypool starts soloing on bass*
