Their only good album, although "Power, Corruption & Lies" came close.
The bridge between Joy Division and New Order. A bit repetitive, but some absolute gems. Dreams Never End is a whopping start to New Order's career and is a lot more optimistic than Joy Division - foreshadows their style, which eventually led to World in Motion. I *really* like Doubts Even Here. I have a soft spot for Peter Hook's vocals here, though it's clear they were just trying their best to mimic Ian Curtis' vocals.
1981 was a wildly confusing period for the band, but it also led to their best stuff. At this point they started to go in a more electronic route (though Joy Division already had, New Order's was more dance-y) despite Bernard being fucked up over Curtis' death. He got pissed on stage at Glastonbury that year, and they stopped performing for months while he got his act together.
It should be said that Stephen Morris is the gem in New Order and he and Bernard took it in the direction away from the Joy Division reminiscence that Peter Hook enjoyed. It set up an interesting dynamic throughout the rest of their albums where Hook would try to bring the rest of the band into playing alt rock while the rest wanted to just do something different. Note how their latest album, Music Complete, was their first without Hook and went in a totally disco route.

I forgot to add this link to the paragraph about 1981. One of my favourite live performances they did: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qahee9DxFQM. Their whole New York City show that this comes from, which you can find in full on YouTube, shows the band how they were. While most bands made music look easy, New Order made it look difficult.
