My friends basically change their music taste every few months/year. The current fad is techno. I want to get into techno but I think it's pretty boring. I think I have a decent attention span, but I just drift after 3¬4 minutes of the first song. Are there actual good techno artists or this is just a meme genre?
One of them told me that "you need to be drunk+high in a techno club to enjoy it", but this sounds really stupid - good music supposed to sound good even when you're sober IMO.
I really like Aphex Twin, which is the closest thing to the songs they like.
here are some examples of tracks they enjoy (the ones I thought were decent)

Definitely worth it to go on RYM and look for some ambient techno since this board isn't really a fan of bleeps as a whole.
