Did cassette noise reduction ever legitimately get good when they were popular? Every example I've heard on any deck/tape loses a lot of the actual music.
I have that exact same cassette deck damn

It's a pretty simple thing but real nice. Metal almost everywhere helps a lot.

Get a nakamichi.
Like all analog mediums, a lot of it depends on the quality of your player. To be sure though, most commercially prerecorded cassettes sold were put on shit quality tape that will never sound good. Cassettes themsevles aren't really audiophile quality, but you can get some great sounds if you record a CD or Vinyl onto a type 2 or type 4 cassette yourself rather than buying the commercial releases
Why would anyone still bother with cassettes these days? Legitimate question

hi im op
purely because it's neat i'd imagine. Vinyl is a more "physical" medium, both CDs and Vinyl offer better sound quality, and digital music players/phones are about 100x more portable than a Walkman type thing. it's just the novelty.
back in the early to mid 2000s people who would trick out their cars with massive subs would use cassette over CD because cassette will still play when the bass kicks. a CD will just bounce and skip.
