I doubt one could hate the other after all they shared. Good thing their paths crossed, neither C93 nor DI6 would be what they are today without the other's influence and inspiration.

I can't fucking believe GEMA won't let me listen to this. Seriously? The reason I can't listen to Boyd Rice in Germany is copyright?

What is the signifigance of the number 6, and what does the gauntlet holding the whip mean?
>>74306414
Oh, June is the sixth month, righ?
Still don't know about the whip.

Here's one thing that always amused me:

This is without a doubt the equivalent of Brown Book era Death In June, pioneering the American neofolk tradition. It has all the elements - martial and traditional folk music elements, appeal to folk myths (in this case old west ghost stories) and a death/war theme. I fucking love this.
>>74306376
Well, politics just kind of blend in with spiritualism and worldview and everything as most neofolk you will find is very personal holistic music. You could just listen to Current 93, they are heavier on the esoteric stuff although, as I said, the politics just come naturally with the esoteric. Or German/Scandinavian tradition neofolk which is more about nature worship but not very akin musically to something like Rome or Death In June (also, what I repeated before applies here as well). You're out of luck, I guess. However, keep in mind that neofolk by nature is more metapolitical than actually political (with the exception of stuff like Von Thronstahl or Luftwaffe).
>>74306590
Nice. There's more influence from 1970's hippie folk and europop than is usually acknowledged.
>>74306626
Thanks, bro.

this is really great and I think you are very correct with the influences
>>74306376
neo-folk will always be a " spiritual" genre if you will, so alot of it isn't so much political as it is the persons strong beliefs put into music form if that makes sense.

Everyone should see this magnificent concert.
I must admit I only heard of John Murphy after his death but the man is a genius. Shining Vril has such beautiful pieces and his work on other projects is usually outstanding.
what happened to the final Di6 US tour that was announced? is the political climate just too all over the place for any venues to book him?
also I really wish Current 93 would hit up the US one more time.

the story I heard was that Doug irrevocably cut all ties with Tibet over Tibet's friendship with Tiny Tim (yes, that Tiny Tim) due to Tim's homophobic views.
Anyone into American Primitivism or is that not accepted here?
>>74308734
The neofolk that gets discussed in these threads is shitty European goth music, it's not the sort of neofolk you're thinking of.
>>74308758
I think you mean that what he is thinking of is not neofolk.
>>74308863
No, the term "neofolk" has also seen wide use in regards to a variety of artists and movements outside of this lame post-industrial tripe.
What I mean is shitty European goth music.
>>74308716
That's what Doug claims but it's bullshit, he remained buds with Boyd Rice for ages after that but Boyd was also friends with Tiny Tim.
>>74308645
possibly could be the reason. man i'd love to meat old dougie
