I like the album, but you're kidding yourself if you don't recognize that it's bloated as hell. I appreciate the ambition but it didn't really pay off all that well. Really love Leaving LA, Bigger Paper Bag, and the Memo tho.

Ballad of the Dying Man is a fantastic track. I would also absolutely disagree that the album is bloated. It has a concept and the tracks which constitute the album fulfill that concept.

as far as popular folk acts go, the new sun kil moon shits all over this. the new fleet foxes shits all over this. the new avey tare album shits all over this. the new mount eerie shits all over this. the new war on drugs will most likely shit all over this.
will never understand the praise this mediocrity has received. Fear Fun remains Tillman's best work by far.
