Can we talk about this album? I missed it when it first came out, but I just listened for the first time and I think it's really interesting.
Dude I'm literally listening to this album right now. The 4th movement of the closing track track is my fucking jam. It's overshadowed, definitely. My second favorite Sufjan album, behind Seven Swans

It's in my top three for the decade. I think it's one of his best. I hope he goes back to his back to his more maximalist style now that he's done with C&L

Planetarium is pretty maximalist, and gives off some Adz vibes
>>74276063
What did you think of Planetarium? I saw it live last week and it was so good.

I Walked is a criminally underrated song. That choir just fucking ascends me

I heard the singles when they came out. I liked most of what I heard. It's in my backlog of albums to listen to. I should get to that.

Haven't heard it yet. How is it live?
>>74276207
It's a very good album, but comes just shy of being great

It's huge live. I don't know how they did it but you can just feel the gravity of the planets. The encore was Somewhere Over the Rainbow and Space Oddity too.
I have a story
>Be me
>13 years old
>Older sister likes indie music
>She's a big fan of Illinois
>Age of Adz comes out
>She buys the CD (this was before music streaming got big)
>She listens to the album twice and hates it
>One day I'm in her car
>I find the CD under her seat
>Stole it
>Burned it to my computer and synced it to my ZUNE (think iPod, but shit)
>I fucking love Futile Devices
>I get about a minute into Too Much, but I don't like it
>I listen to futile devices every day on the way to school
>I go 2 months without listening to the rest of the album
>One day, I decide to listen to the whole album
>HOLY SHIT
>I'm 13, so this is unlike anything I've ever heard before
>I love it
>Begin listening to the rest of his discography
>Illinoise and Michigan are really good, but I was kind of hoping for something more anxious
>I get to Enjoy Your Rabbit
>ohfuck.jpg
>It's Too Much
>About a year later, I learn about Pandora (online radio)
>I begin listening to Sufjan Stevens radio every day
>One day, Brother Sport by Animal Collective comes on
>I instantly love it
>Soon, Animal Collective becomes my favorite musical act
>There's still a place in my heart for sufjan, though
>One day I'm reading the comments on a Animal Collective Youtube video
>One of the comments mentions /mu/
>I decide to check it out
And that's how I started reading /mu/ at 15

I melt inside every time he sings "I never meant to cause you pain" with his quiet voice
