It's so over-the-top melodramatic that it feels disingenuous and cheesy.
I'm surprised people on Youtube ate it up as much as they did.

Reminds me of when Van Halen did You Really Got Me. They "rock-ified" it despite the original rocking plenty. It was this totally clueless, ego-driven thing, adding nothing to the original and misunderstanding it entirely.

Paul Simon achieved dramatic effect with just words, a guitar, and two-part harmony. Disturbed turned it into this string-drenched, enlightened-trailer-trash thing.
