Just picked up my vinyl after being separated for five years. I'm beginning to think it's worth a lot of money relative to what it cost me.

Genuine curiosity: why buy vinyls and other physical media when digital music storage is superior and more convenient?
I like the aesthetic of vinyl, but what's the point?
>>74273346
People like to own things autist.
>>74273346
vinyls isnt a word. say records.
anyways it depends on what kind of music you listen to.
If you're getting original pressed records from the 70s then there are benefits, such as the master tapes not aging and the sound being really clean and really close to the master. Usually the original mixing and mastering sounds the best as well.
But if youre buying the new death grips record, youre financially irresponsible and theres literally no point.

There's a bunch of reasons but the biggest pro I've found since I've started buying vinyl is that I'm discovering a lot more music now. I find cheap vinyl with cool covers and fall in love. Or I some one sees what I'm buying and recommends me something else. It's been cool.

Where do you get cheap vinyls? Goodwill?
>>74273505
A local record store that knows what they're doing.
There is a little of everything in here because I play piano I love music and I'm not a pretentious fuck
>>74273346
Mostly because I listen to it.
I collected most of it when I was in college. These Phish albums could probably get between 1200 and 1500 dollars alone on eBay or discogs.
Rate my personal favorite.
I think these little gold numbers make them worth more.

Is that zappas "we're only in it for the money?"
I have that, great fucking album. I habe that Tull album too another great one. Which one is your favorite?
>>74273543
local who? local what? Amoeba? Spinnakers? The Soundgarden? Newberry's?
>>74273904
It's actually sgt. pepper, haha. Although I do love we're only in it for the money, I haven't stumbled across a vinyl of it, yet.
These are kind of all my current favorites right now.
>>74273978
The one I go to has only three locations all in my city.
>>74274034
I see...Amoeba only has 2 same with soundgarden and spinnakers is only the one. I drove downtown in the rain, nine thirty on a Tuesday night, just to check out my late night record shop.
>>74274105
I go to one called Angelo's. I only go to the one location because their other two suck in regards to vinyl selection.

lately i have been looking online but you always pay a premium online.

> I've started buying vinyl is that I'm discovering a lot more music now. I find cheap vinyl with cool covers and fall in love.
I'm the reverse of that
>Find a new/obscure album to download
>See some of my newly discovered artist on LP
>Make sure if it's really worth to buy it
>Listen many times on the digital copy
>Suddenly I now appreciate the whole album
>Buy the LP
This really saves me from hoarding LPs, I just decide carefully if it's worth it

>>74275626

>>74275771
>all that ironic meme decor
>>74276052
i'd prefer shit i've had since i was 5 with sentimental value in a house i own over a sublime album in a studio apartment, but to each their own
:^)
>>74276122
I have a sublime album but I certainly don't live in a fucking studio apartment.
>>74276219
I guess I could be a pretentious fuck and slam what I don't like but I prefer to focus on the shit that makes me go hmmm...I like that Yes album, one of their best musically and lyrically.
>>74275502
It's what got me into Can.
>>74275334
See if you can find a place with a listening station.
