What do you need to have (other than the instrument itself) to be able to write songs for a whole band (several instruments) on just the piano? This isn't so uncommon as I've read, people just write whole songs on the piano and then transcribe parts for other instruments? But how the fuck do you go about doing this?

Talent is a meme though. Hard work is key but those are just words with vague meanings.

Listen to lots of music that uses the instruments you are writing for, learn to play those parts on the piano and determine what makes parts written for that instrument different from others. Plus your probably not going to just be using the piano, you'll also be composing things in your head and transferring them to the piano to hear them realized. It can take some time, you wont get good at multi-part writing overnight. I would recommend using MIDI software to help with arrangements, like Anvil Studio or Finale or something, so you can hear all the instrument parts happening at once so you get a better idea of how it's going to sound.

I'm sorry to inform you that science disagrees with you and that talent is in fact a human trait:

You can be in denial and blame it all on the memes, sure.
