This is useless information and you're a moron if you buy a $400 synth right off the bat, along with analog delay systems and a fcking reverb unit.
All of that should be superior software for now, all of which you can pirate.
Ignore if you have any brains.

Get yourself a quick selection of mics in this order:
>a bundle of SM57's. As many as you can get.
Become a wizard with these and you'll never have a problem with the rest.
>an AT2020 or 2 for a cheap set of LDC's. Overheads, room mics, vox, etc.
>a solid DI for bass and guitar
>a SM7b for vox
>beta 52 if you need a good bass drum/bass amp mic
>finally, eventually, get a ribbon, any you can afford and BABY that shit. Never break it, and you'll have the perfect catch all mic.

Other necessary starter equipment:
>Sony V6's for a good set of cans around $50-70
>splurge on monitors, find some in your area for less money, but don't buy shit. Do you homework. You need good ones for good mixes.
>Set them up turned towards you; keep them equally apart from each other as they are from you, a perfect triangle.
>sound panels, acoustic paneling, deadening foam.
I don't care what kind of "room vibes" you think you want; you're gonna be killing your muddy mixes until you learn how to use this mics.

Now for cables:
>learn to solder and make your own cable kits of the highest quality.
>learn to wrap your cables in a coil with love after every use, and put them back up.
>I repeat: Don't tangle them, don't leave them out!
(That soldering part will save you a LOT of money in the long run.)

Finally, get good with your DAW, whatever it may be.
Pro Tools is a good universal mixing, as is Logic. Cubase is also a good choice.
Ableton is cool for MIDI, and FL Studio is great for composing MIDI as well

Standard Mixing Tips (Do these first THEN experiment):
>Tracks go from left to right bass to highest freqs on each instrument.
>Drums: BD, Snare, OH's
>Bass: side chain to the BD so that cuts through
>Guitar: chisel low end out for bass
>Vocals: compress
>Synth: don't use stock sounds please god
>Your most important shit to get right is BD, Snare, Vocals: the beat and melody.
>"Search And Destroy": boost the Q in the EQ, make it like a tiny needle, and sweep it around until you find that annoying freq you hate, then dip it down. Don't dip all the way down, because we love all the freqs equally! It'll sound "scooped"
>High Pass your Reverbs! Cut the low-middle shit out, it eats your mix.
>DON'T put your FX on the tracks themselves! Use sends and buses!
>Put ALL your FX on auxiliary channels, THEN feed their input with sends and buses from the tracks
>put the effects mixes on 100% wet so you can freely slide that fader to mix in the effects; instead of EQ'ing a track with reverb, you're now only having to EQ the reverb.
>If your mix is clipping, dip everything down; we'll boost in the mastering later.
