you can most certainly fake it and say you have colors when you listen to music but most people don't remember what colors they associate, as opposed to people who truly have synesthesia, as it's an automatic sensation

i genuinely do though. if i close my eyes i can literally see the color in the back of my eye lid. and even before i realized i could do that ive always seen music in color but it was a minds eye thing, i even remember when i was a kid calling songs by their color and people not understanding what i meant

What happens when you pause a song? Do the colors linger or are they gone as soon as you no longer hear the sound?

some definitely do but others can be completely diverse and have every color. like blues for example is usually brown and yellow where as jazz is every possible color. british invasion type rock is usually yellow green and brown. then like shoegaze or like goth is purples and reds. but theres always exceptions to this and if i dug through discographys i could find songs from any artist in any color, its just some artists have colors which define their career
