Most live sound mixers will set up a mixing desk with nothing plugged into it and call it something like a "DFA controller" so when you perform live they can fiddle about with it every now and then to make it look like their job's important when they're really not doing anything. Also if you ask for more bass in the monitors or the vocals up or whatever most of the time they'll just pretend to turn it up on that to shut you up but without doing anything.

The charts were heavily rigged in the past, and major labels knew how to get a song to a decent level in the charts. This revolved around vaguely knowing what stores the sales stats were taken from (as not all sales were actually added, sales from certain stores were taken as a representation of the country), going to those stores and buying multiple copies of the releases to fuck with the charts. Shopkeepers were also bribed with merchandise, signed records, etc. to rig the charts by scanning releases multiple times to show up as selling two, three, etc. times as much as they actually did. This would have the consequence of charting highly, meaning the songs got more radio and TV play, resulting in more sales over the coming weeks, or building the profile of an artist so later releases will chart without this needing to help it.
