I don't think kendrick sold out because he probably has more than enough money for the rest of his life,but he definitely went mainstream on damn. look past that, he always had mainstream friendly singles on his albums going back to gkmc. swimming pools, backstreet freestyle, I, humble, most of damn is mainstream. I think kendrick just did a REALLY good job of selling himself with gkmc, he has a very large, dedicated fan base. who'd support no matter what.

So when he makes music that appeals to a broader audience, he gains more fans and his core fans don't really flip out on him for it. Though i admit i was one of those who hated humble at first.
