apparently taking a shit into a toilet and repeating it forever is now considered top tier art in remembrance of 9/11.

it's pretty fucking good
Attaching the 9/11 story considering that the record was finished BEFORE it happened was dumb, but not as heinous as people make it out to be.
Musically I actually like the idea of tape loops being played over and over again until they "disintegrate". But the problem here's that each loop goes on for way too long with nothing else happening to them except some reverb that he added. There were many ways to circumvent this.
Instead of using those specific magnetic loops, he could've recorded new loops on shitty barely held-together tape that would've gone through similar treatment but be recorded much more slowly and then played much more fast. But I guess he really wanted to use those specific loops since he was trying to salvage them and that's kinda his story with them. Even then if he really wanted to use the same loops, he could've varied the speed that they played in to make it go faster/bring variety, and he could've added more than just reverb to also bring more variety.

there's not much to get anon. the tape was disintegrating as it played and basinski shoehorned in this cringeworthy 9/11 parallel to sell more records
how to make tape disintegrate without leaving it sitting for 20 years
