Love this band. Wish their first three albums were available on vinyl. Frances the Mute was the album that broke me out of being a prog nerd, weirdly enough. I kinda realized there were no rules and started listening to anything.

I'm not so hot on the first track at parts and I think the Frances The Mute Single not included on the album is way better but other than that I've nearly worn out my CD just from playing it so much. I bought my copy randomly in a record store not knowing what to expect when I was like 15 or 16 because I had heard a couple off of Deloused (this was around when Bedlam came out if I remember right) and to this day I still blast cassandra gemini regularly.
Usually I get into artists really hard and then my interests wane over time, usually about a year if I like them a ton, but Mars Volta I still come back to a ton and go "holy fuck"
There's been talk from the guys that there's still a lot of untreaded ground on The Mars Volta project and they may return to it one day and I hope they do because even though Cedric hasn't been good live since like 2005, it would be a fucking sight to behold.
I recommend everyone go look up the video of them playing Cassandra Gemini live in its entirety on youtube.

Am I the only one who can't into Cassandra Gemini? To me it feels too drawn-out; most of the sections overstay their welcome and the return to the opening theme near the end seems forced.
I really want to like it because I'm in love with the rest of Frances but Cassandra Gemini puts it well behind Deloused, Amputechture and Bedlam for me.
Also, what are everyone's thoughts on Bedlam? It's without a doubt my favorite of theirs but I know it's pretty divisive.

I can't stand Bedlam save for a few tracks, way too busy.
I've got the original press Bedlam record SEALED. Bought it for $60 back in 2013. One of the highlights of my collection.
