how do you decide whether you buy an album on cd or vinyl
Vinyl always. Price doesn't depreciate like hell.

that assume's an intent to resell at a later date.

True, but it is nice to know your purchases have monetary value to them in the future.

>buying a cd
why would you do this anon?
the only cd player i own is attached to my car.
CD almost every time
If it becomes a favorite I'll rebuy on vinyl later

Physical backup to the opus files you have on your phone

Is it worth buying and not playing because who has $300 for a decent record player these days?
>>74091110
if it's a good album, i buy a vinyl. if it's trash like radiohead, i don't buy it at all.
if its 1xLP length (~42 minutes) and it was released in the 80s or earlier, then I get it on Vinyl. If it was released in the 90s or later and is 1xCD length (~80 minutes), then i get it on CD. if it doesnt fit into either of those, then i just take it case by case, but usually i get it on CD unless i really like the cover art.
you all buying vinyls are pretty stupid

>reddiohead
You save your money for a less embarrassing band
>>74091421
you can find record players at garage sales that are pretty good. i own physics copies but in vinyl cause ironically i don't have a cd player

you can extend this argument to anyone buying physically media but you could also just fuck off
>>74091110
If you're rich, then vinyl. If not, CD.
>new albums: torrent 'em
>older albums: buy on vinyl for a few dollars in good condition
Buying albums you already like on vinyl is pretty dumb imo. I usually buy records at flea markets and thrift stores to listen to for the first time

Where do you live where the private market isn't filled with "I know what I got"-americans?
