Yep, the ambient tracks perfectly build the atmosphere, and the licensed tracked are perfectly placed. One of my favorite moments that comes to mind is when Max jumps back to the prime timeline from the alternate timeline and the song In My Mind is playing in Chloe's room. Couldn't be more thematically relevant.

The stigma against video game (and anime) music shows how much of music is driven by social considerations. A lot of game music isn't materially different from classical and film music, and some of it is even written by composers famous for their film music and/or performed by orchestras. Ys Origin and Ys Oath in Felghana are near-perfect games, I & II Chronicles, Ark of Napishtim and Seven are really good as well but have some mechanics that take getting used to. An in-house group at Falcom compose the music for every game, so just about every Falcom game has an out of this world soundtrack. You're in for a treat.
