Hybrid seems to make most since if you were.broight up working with tape/analogue. If only experience is digital than you have to consider the money investment that analogue gear is going to cost, plus time to learn new techinques.

Records give you lyrics, liner notes, personnel, extra pictures and a larger picture of the album cover to look at. It's also less convenient to skip tracks because instead of pressing a button, you have to walk over to the record player and finagle with it, so it's more likely you'll listen to the entire thing. It's a more immediately-immersive experience. (Of course, you can do all this online, but I find it's slightly more tedious.) You also have to take care of your records by learning a few things about the mechanics, which increases the value of music for you.

I don't even buy records and I know this.

Sure, collecting records for a shitty record player and shitty speakers just for the aesthetic is shallow, but a significantly large minority of record collectors seem to be into it for way more than that. I've met tons of musicians who still listen to revords after decades of playing music and learning multiple instruments/genres.
