I'm a jazz pleb looking for albums similar to pic related. I tried some other hard bop because that's what rym calls it (Coltrane, Sonny Rollins, Monk), but nothing is really similar. Especially liking title track and Jean de Fleur
Kenny Burrell - Midnight Blue is similar bluesy jazz guitar.
Buddy Rich - Stick It

grant green is fantastic! i recommend listening to matador, green street, and his quartets with sonny clark. if you're into jazz fusion also listen to his live at club mozambique record

I really have a hard time getting into Jazz Fusion. I like Bitches Brew and In A Silent Way, but most other stuff like from Mahavishnu Orchestra, Chick Corea, Return To Forever just doesn't do it for me. How does Green's brand of Jazz Fusion compare?

lol don't worry, it's nothing as sparse as miles davis's electric stuff (which i do love anyway). don't know how much you know about herbie hancock but if you listen to his 70's and 80's work, it's not much different from live at club mozambique. only difference is that grant green keeps a fast pace the entire time
one of the comfiest jazz albums, always makes me sleepy
