Why exactly did people get so steadfast about defending modern music, especially in the past few years?
it's always been like that, it's a generational thing

One line that I keep reading on /mu/ over and over: "No, see, modern music actually IS good! You just have to know where to look for it. Also, check out my Soundcloud, I make chill Nujabes-type beats."
Afraid of being lumped in with /pol/ and other reactionaries
Patricians will read Guenon and Evola and realize the secular world will always be debased

it;s not an easy debate to have when everyone is listening to different things
no one has any clue what's actually popular

Personally, I think the 2000s sucked completely for music and the 2010s are only marginally better.

counterjerk against the "I was born in the wrong generation" crowd popular among normies/leddit
>>74022442
I remember seeing exact "born in the wrong generation" comments in 2006. Nowadays, I see roughly 10x more backlash that I do the real thing.

Actually, liking modern music is now the reddit thing to do. So, if you like shit like kanye, than you are basically reddit and should die.

you're not wrong. I think /r/lewronggeneration contributed a lot to the sudden onslaught of poptimism we see online, especially its cringier side like the allegations that disliking rap = racist, adopting black twitterisms, etc.
