Why do rappers pretend to be hardcore gangsters?
Didn't 50 Cent film himself waiting outside of DJ Khaled's mom's workplace when they were having a beef? I don't know if he's a gangster per se but I still wouldn't want to be on the guy's bad side.
imagine getting shot 9 times and having someone call you fake lol

Why do rappers pretend to be super-villains?

>pretend
There are many fake gangsters in rap but 50 really isn't one of them. He obviously isn't the major drug kingpin he claims to be in his records (no rapper is) but he was definitely a real street hustler who had a legit history of violence and drug dealing. Dj Whoo Kid did a long ass interview where he chronicled the rise of G-Unit from back when 50 Cent was just an unknown 300+lb goon who would ride around NYC in an old bullet hole ridden van with Yayo and Banks. It's a pretty great read. I could picture it being adapted into a whole HBO miniseries about the 90's/early 2000's NYC rap scene.

>300+lb goon
pic clearly says 170
300 lbs is big even for wwe standards lol

Apparently, he lost a shitload of weight after getting shot in the face due to the all liquid diet he was on (at least this is what Whoo Kid claims)

Does all the fame later in a career make your Hardcore gangster status vanish?
