It's a hell of an opener, but I wouldn't say it's the best of the album. Zlida Caosgi and Floodgate are even more jarring and have some of the most insane percussion I've ever heard. The First Matter cultivates a very hazy, almost comforting atmosphere, until it makes one sudden, soft change and you end the song feeling paranoid as fuck. And He Built Him a Boat was beautiful, I also really liked Thief.
I don't know man, it's Toby Driver. The composition here is tight, the orchestration is grandiose and the music makes you feel what Byron wants you to feel in his story. It's definitely up there as far as my favorites of theirs go.
