>New Edition-Can You Stand The Rain
this is my first time seeing New Edition being mentioned on /mu/ and I've been here for over 5 years.
I just realized that Garden Shed is in 6/8. What was the last time you heard a rap song that wasn't in common meter?

Why do people keep wanking off to time signatures? It's such an arbitrary thing to be obsessed about.

I wouldn't call it wanking off, but it's because being able to kill a track over times more complicated than 4/4 is very cool/impressive, in all genres of music. Odd and mixed meters are so out of the ordinary, especially in the mainstream these days, that when a track comes along and an artist shreds on it, it's cool to see. It's why I love Hank Levy-esque pieces so much in jazz, or why I dig math rock so much.

Shit sucks. No wonder it was cut from the album proper.
The best track on that album is Gimme More. Get Naked (I Got a Plan) and Freakshow are pretty good too.

Garden Shed. Weirdly enough, the whole Tyler coming out controversy came the day after I came out to my family. They were really accepting and it made me happy that one of my favorite rappers finally had the courage to come out.
