aight, so i've been really into fishmans for a few months now, and their music is now some of my favorite. also got into tricot, which IS different by far, but still pretty good stuff.
just trying to listen to more japanese music to practice and because it's dope. so, any good jap stuff would be appreciated

Maybe Jagatara. They're somewhere between rock and jazz and sound like a crazier Talking Heads. As for hip-hop, there's Moe and ghosts and Daoko from the list above. There's also Scha Dara Parr and Akkogorilla. Suiyōbi no Campanella can also get fairly hip-hop despite being a pop/trip-hop outfit primarily.

Oh yeah, and Midori is pretty great. They're jazz-hardcore punk fusion. 385 does something similar with funk and hardcore.
