its been a while and I just saw pic related so I figured why not make one

>tfw ended up falling in love with her over the course of her set then slightly despairing when I realized the other guitarist was her husband then majorly despairing when I realized I had no cash on hand and couldn't buy vinyl and get it signed by her

all in and all it was still a great show

IF YOU HAVEN'T LISTENED TO THIS ALBUM YET DO SO ITS SO GOOD

have you guys seen any cool performances recently?

Probably one of the most meaningful things I did in college, it was great and I made a lot of cool friends and got to meet a lot of chill musicians as a result. Nobody SUPER SUPER big though, Beach Fossils was probably the most popular.

Learned a lot about music too and was able to get a lot of tunes ahead of release date due to promo companies sending us stuff to play all the time.

Definitely do it

the thing you are looking for is ambient shoegaze/dream pop.
Pygmalion and AIA Alien Observer could accomplish that. I´m talking about those two because they are the ones I know well and are pretty popular in the shugazi charts.

One of my all-time favorites. Ian Masters had the voice of a fucking choir boy.

He had a terrific project with the dude from A.C. Kilgore after he left Pale Saints called Spoonfed Hybrid. Not quite shoegaze but definitely dream pop. If you haven't heard this, you need to.

hi shugazi

>>73953626
some of it
noise rock is an umbrella term imo. Think about Dinosaur Jr, Big Black and Lightning Bolt, almost no common elements (besides being noisee xD) and all of them are considered "noise rock".

I'd consider "noise/alternative" to be part of shugazi. Stuff like Weed, Yuck, even some jam bands like The Psychic Paramounts.

wrong meme
the fact that the holy trinity,CT and JAMC have millions of views is something really far from dead.

it's limited yes and it's hard to find a way to innovate it successfully but I've seen its popularity rise steadily in the underground

it's just a matter of time for faggots to say that When the Sun Hits or Sometimes the pleb/normie songs of the genre
>>
>>73969851
Shoegaze was always "underground". It was supposed to be the next it genre in the 90s(in Europe) but the media killed it in favor of britpop.
This is why plenty of bands like Ride, Curve, The Verve and even Blur early albums are shoegaze or have a shoegaze influence but then later they went full britpop.
It's still a obscure genre, but it has more relevancy nowadays thanks to the internet.

Also you get unlimited streams on BC anyway, I don't know what the fuck you're complaining about.

>>73969472
i usually like to listen to MBV (the album) before going to sleep, i don't know why exactly but it always put me on a sleepy mindset.
>>
>>73963008

Music is a dying industry for a reason. Put on a show if you want to get paid, the music itself is so easy to get for free that it really might as well be at this point. And yeah, it sucks that means people can't really expect to just write songs for a living as reliably now but that's life. It also sucks they can't eat ice cream for a living, nobody is bitching about that though.

>>73969725

Lush dreamy noisey guitars isn't a "formula," people just need to catch on that you can do a lot more with shoegaze than pop rock. The main issue is that the fans aren't really that open to it though, for whatever reason.

Yeah, people have been saying that since 1993. Punk's been dead since the 80s too if you listen to some people. Hip-hop, reggae, house, rock and roll... everyone's said they were dead or dying as soon at some point or another. You shouldn't trust rock journalists. They're salesmen.

name me one genre that hasn't been proclaimed 'dead' by some blogger straight out of their journalism degree

Is dub shoegaze a thing? It feels like a fusion that would make sense.

Seefeel was heavily indebted to dub. The Boo Radleys had a lot of dubby basslines on Giant Steps, too.

If its not shoegaze its definitely /shugazi/

So far Japanese Breakfast and Jay Som are the biggest contenders.
Ambersmoke was good too, but its a bit dissappointingly like generic shoegaze compared to the rest of their discography, though they do mix some post-rock and slowcore kinda sounds into it too.

Anyone got some recs that you think are AOTY contendors? I still need to go through more of this years shoegaze releases.

Any good Jap releases this year, lads?

I dunno, personally I think her general sound is great but the melodic elements mostly don't really click with me. Diving Woman is 10/10 though

>idol-performance-art project?
Narrow that down to just "idol group" and you're right.
Seems to be backed by some of the guys from For Tracy Hide and My Letter on songwriting and production though, so it might be a more "indie" endeavour than something supported by a big production agency.
>>
Anybody a fan of Cemeteries on here? I saw DDB's music video for "Sodus" half a year ago, and have been hooked on them ever since.

His album "The Wilderness" is great, if you're into spacier dreampop (with some psychedelic rock influences). What Did You See is a hell of a song, but Summer Smoke might be overtaking it as my favourite song off of it.

>Narrow that down to just "idol group" and you're right.

I guess I never saw gaze and idol going together so I figured there must be some degree of irony or subversion going on. Plus they always wear those weird masks.

But the whole idol thing is pretty alien to me, I'm only a moderate weeb.

Nothing, as far as I can tell from 4 years of searching. The albums that came closest:

>Cults - s/t
>Panda Bear - Person Pitch
>AnCo - MUH GIRLS
>Melody's Echo Chamber - s/t
>Sugar Candy Mountain - 666 / Mystic Hits
>Dumbo Gets Mad - Quantum Leap
>Temples - Sun Structures / Volcano (probably the closest one)

It turns out nobody else has thought to combine shoegaze, exotica, and dinosaurs.
