When my grandfather died, the weekend before, he seemed great and healthy. He was loud, funny and not chilling at all. It was so amazing, I went to my sister that she had to see him and he'd be so happy to see her and that I think he'll make some kind of recovery. We went over to his house and he was clearly about to die. He passed the next morning.

Lorde's album Pure Heroine was a bit like that. At the time, I thought it was signalling a shift in ethos and aesthetic for the music industry, but foolish that I didn't know, it was about to get much, much worse.
