awh, all right.
I agree, all tracks are great, I would put, at least pesronally, Reptile much higher.
Nice to see someone who doesn't just diss Big Man With A Gun
>>73932973
I love BMWAG, and following it up with A Warm Place is a masterstroke
The becoming is literally one of nins best tracks.
>>73932462
the only thing i dislike about this album is the dry sounding mastering. i prefer the way californication and by the way sounded.
>tfw want to do a track ranking, but every track is good in its own special way
how did he do it? how does one make an album so perfect?
>>73932370
It's a great album, so you have nothing to be ashamed of. Reznor takes the industrial-inspired edginess into Marilyn Manson-esque territory though.

>>73933727
Every live track is fucking perfect here, I absolutely Trent's current voice compared to his young one, hearing TDS like this is fucking sex.
Btw, Big Man With A Gun was played live only three times, one time in Self-Destruct Tour and two times when TDS was played live in its entirety. So it is really great luck we got such great recording of it here.
>that comfy feeling knowing Nails is trending on youtube still
Fuck you all
>>73933828
Same with Ruiner. The only time it was ever played live.
>>73933839
>Less Than will be in 1 million very soon.
Shame Burning Bright could not get that exposure that quickly, but it's okay since I think Less Than kicks ass, Burning Bright is something special though.
The chorus of Heresy is an example of lyrics so bad they become good
>>73933852
That one is even rarer, I don't think that one even was in Self-Destruct tour, and Trent fucking nailed it, when Trent starts touring again, which is in few days now, he needs to play some Ruiner again.
He needs to throw away certain tracks off the setlist, every tour has stuff like "Gave Up" "Burn" "Closer" "Reptile". Within the new material I'd like to see Trent trying to do Hapiness In Slavery live, or Demon Seed.
>>73933853
Let's be honest though, Burning Bright is a rough song to listen to for the uninitiated. This EP series needed a 'Less Than' single as its face.
>>73932437
>Ruiner
good joke
>>73933897
I was really surprised that Trent released Burning Bright to the public as its own video, The Idea Of You was much more accesible and it would probably please much more people.
But I guess Trent wanted to show off the most exciting and "new" track, the one he felt the most proud of.
I cannot think of a more rough song from NIN than Burning Bright actually.
>>73933326
omg stfu
>>73932370
>Fuck you I enjoy it
Is how I feel about all music I like because someone inevitably shits on my music taste
>>73933871
Yes, like said above. It's a testament to Reznor's dedication to the TDS concept that kept TDS from coming off as narmy. There's no pause to it.
That and the narrator who kills God in Heresy is ultimately punished for it.
Reznor is a good lapsed catholic.
>>73933485
you're wrong. sorry TDS has one song with terrible lyrics but good production and The Fragile has 4 songs with terrible lyrics and terrible production

TDS is a great story album
The Fragile is a great personal album

>>73933965
Yes
>>73934047
The Fragile is a story album too while being personal as well. It is more loose. With Teeth is pretty much a sequel to it, which also happens to be one of the most personal Trent's works and also has a loose concept to it.
>>73932437
Best songs
>Piggy
>Heresy
>Ruiner
>Closer

>Reptile
>>73934177
I find Piggy to be much better live where Trent starts yelling and being more agressive.
>HEY
>MOTHA
>FUCKING
>PIIIIIIG
The album version is too mellow for me now.
>>73934189
On AATCHB, the transition between March and Piggy is great
"Hey pigs... Hey... Fucking..."
Terrible Lie and The Day The World Went Away have the best live versions on that album, though.
>>73934230
Trent does this in Tension Tour too.

>>73932370
It's a good/average album.
You should be embarrassed if you like The Fragile or any of the shit after it though, especially if you're in your 20's.
>>73934388
no.
>>73934387
because it's a shitty electropop song and normies love that shit
>>73934415
Nah, it is genuinelly pretty good, full of great hooks and shit.
It's like Closer or The Hand That Feeds, they're not the best what NIN can do but it is easiest for the public to swallow, aso at their catchiest.
>>73934439
It sounds goofy with Reznor's sighing "i'm so deep and hurt inside" vocals over that sort of music.
It would be better if someone else was doing it, desu.
>>73934465
I don't know senpai, this isn't that type of song that is that angsty or hurt inside, I don't know where to put it, I don't want to go and make claims that this is something like The Hand That Feeds, aka "fuck you authorities".
But this song has a lot of confidence in it, with that "SHUT UP!" and "Take care of yourself, I got my hands full". It sounds like Trent is mocking someone.

Why.
Rammstein's best work easily stands up there with the best work of bands like Godflesh and Laibach.
Nine Inch Nails' best work still doesn't elevate them above being MTV edgecore for the Marilyn Manson/Rob Zombie crowd.

>>73935558
You're entitled to your opinion, but I think they're a great band that has been able to cover a lot of ground in terms of the styles they played. The earlier years had some really unique sounds and are just generally fun to listen to, while as their works post-BSSM did a great job at blending a more mainstream pop sound into the rock that they play. As far as their last two albums go, I can't say I was the biggest fan though.
>>73935742
Nine Inch Nails were Duran Duran if they were given loud guitars and heroin and were produced by Al Jourgensen.
Trent Reznor is a clown.
>>73935683
no Kevin pls
>>73934605
Korn genuinely were a better band than Nine Inch Nails.
Their sound was their own. They created and pioneered their own aesthetic, both in terms of sound and in terms of subject matter. They were also far more adept as musicians on a purely technical level than any of the guys who served in NIN.
All Reznor ever did was coattail Wax Trax and Depeche Mode.

though AFAIK korn were also obliterating themselves with drugs and alcohol 24/7 by 1998, and that didn't really stop them from being a great, at times even intimidatingly powerful live band.

>>73932422

>>73936222
Some people handle it better then others, and it did help that Reznor wasn't very close with his band anymore like he as on the earlier tours. He was fighting Finck every other night and was just too out of it. It's also worth noting Reznor basically did everything on that tour, from how the band is going to sound to how the show is going to look.
I imagine it's easier to handle that life style when you have people who can help take some of the burden off.
Sobriety caused a massive increase to the quality of the live show.
>>73933828
As great as his voice sounds now, I think that his young voice fit better with the music. He's got a powerful voice now that absolutely works, but it almost sounds too powerful and in control, where as the whole story of TDS was the opposite of that.
