That's a bit embarrassing.

I won't
I don't fully agree with their politics but their music is fucking amazing always so getting that and getting to see /pol/ stragglers autist rage at the same time will be great
>>
seems pretty standard for gy!be, gonna assume anyone who gets upset/surprised about it is either underaged or stupid

>health care is a human right
Wait so, say there is a new country, blank canvas. By making health care a human right, wouldn't you have to force people to work in the medical industry and force them to serve people? Wouldn't that violate the rights of those people?
>>
>>73931921
Justin's wife is Sophie Gregoire-Trudeau, she doesn't go by Sophie Trudeau. She used to be a TV host or something, that's not the same person.

This band was always a banal and contrived collegiate joke. The sort of shit only teenagers can take seriously.
I remember hearing their debut back in like 1999 and laughing out loud at the monologue which opened the album.
>>
>>73932087
kek
>>
>>73932089
well I think the tapes are literally a joke
>>
>>73932071
but would there be enough people willing to work in the industry if they didn't have to? wouldn't the quality of care drop immensely?
>>
>>73932129
Doesn't seem to be a problem in countries with universal health care. It is incredibly difficult to get into med school in Canada because it is so competitive from so many people applying.
>>
>>73932129
What would happen if today all doctors suddenly quit? Then what? The only way to make health care is right is government compulsion to do so. You have to force people to work and serve in that field. Health care is a good and service
>>
>>73932154
and then they all immediately abandon Canada for the States after graduating because our country pays them absolutely dick, hence why we're stuck with India's cast-offs filling our entire health care industry.
>>
>>73932167
That's an interesting hypothetical but it simply would never happen.
>>
>>73932167
>what if some insane hypothetical scenario occurred and you might have to change your views on healthcare because of it? Heh, gotcha kiddo.

>>
>>73932154
it's certainly enough to piss off doctors so that they move somewhere they can make a decent living in. Making health care a right just devalues doctors work and makes them work more for less, which in turn makes their work suck and turns off people interested in the field.
Also the United States are too big to have socialized medicine. we have states bigger than european countries, so comparing the two is apples and oranges.

>>73932167
I don't think it necessarily follows that health care as a law-enforced civil right is detached from health care as a network of economic activity. The legislative framework which ordains health care as a human right can incorporate the economic motivations of individual doctors and nurses within it.

Besides, a 'right' to health care often means simply eliminating financial barriers to access.
>>
>>73932301
>>73932304
You tards think that the existence of borders physically prevents invasions?
>>
>>73932329
Correct answer.
>>
>>73932322
who gives a shit if it has political overtones if it's mostly instrumental with sampling? It's not hard to ignore the message with any music, and it's even easier with something like gy!be
>>

It isn't a right. It can only be a good and service. Sure you can change the definition of a right to mean a service that's funded by the government or society, but it can never be an actual human right.

they literally hadn't said anything wrong until this. in fact if you removed that one sentence, this would be harmless cringe. but that is the stupidest fucking sentence I've read all month. godspeed jumped the shark
>>
>>73932604
Because of the instrumental nature of their music. Most of the meaning behind it is mostly up to the listener's personal interpretation.
>>
>>73932501
Musically I think it would good but as a comparison I'd say it's in poor taste but funny considering their politics.
>>
>end to borders

aren't liberals supposed to be empathetic towards the poor
>>
>>73932329
So it's a service that's funded by the public or government? Sure you can call it a right, but for a service to be a "human right" would mean that you would have to have the government force service and a human (doctor's) labour.
>>
>>73932649
Well no, I'm not. But how can we incorporate muslim law into this utopian world society? If we do that, how are people in muslim societies going to accept that? How can we not expect them to object to their law and culture?
>>
>>73932615
if this wasn't contextualized w the band's musical output this would just be schizophrenia and no one would care about it
>>
>>73932687
Just taking the service that is publicly funded and guaranteed to all citizens and referring to it as a right is good enough for me. I can't speak for GY!BE though.

>>73931853

>>
>>73932658
The vast majority of liberals and "leftists" are ultimately just as disgusted by poverty and weakness as the average conservative, if not even more so.
They might recycle the same tired progressive platitudes, but in reality they have a lot more in common with the ruthless and vapid yuppies of the 1980s than with, I dunno, Crass or whoever.

>>
>>73932800
There is absolutely zero reason why the entire fucking world would agree on a universal culture, law, economic system, etc... without any dispute or war. Like do these people think before they speak?

>>73932969

>>
>>73933026
Anarchism is not world government you goddamn acephale.
>>
why this is less woke than they used to be
>>
>>73933043
So they want an entire world anarchism? The human race would go extinct in a matter of years. Aren't they against war?
>>
>>73933026
yeah tell me about it, I'm from ex-yugoslavia. With "no borders" nationalism rises really quickly and everything goes to absolute hell, even in people that are basically brothers and sisters

>>73933043
anarchism is also for children
>>
>>73932883
If Canadians dont have a right to healthcare then what is it? A guaranteed service? Honestly the difference between a right and a guaranteed service seems pretty trivial.
>>
>>73933026
Sure. But Godspeed has always been a radleft/ancom collective. Suddenly getting so incensed over their politics shows how far this board has been indoctrinated. They're not tumblristas or idpol fucks or bourgeois feminists; they're not going to scream at you or hate you for who you are.

They're leftists insofar as they're idealists who dream of a better world. One without was, without starvation in the streets, without corporate tyrannies and without hatred among men. Is this naive? Perhaps. But there's always some naivety to hope, and hope is what their music is about.

Just because the world is a shitheap doesn't mean we can't love a Valuska.

>>
>>73933141
>Anarchism is also for children

Makes sense since children actually have better logic, imagination and abstract thought capabilities than adults.
>>
>>73933143
Because a "right" would mean a government compulsion of human service. That's illegal. There's a clear difference between that and a guaranteed service in which the industry depends on the choice of doctors and workers to work.
>>
>>73933220

But we have the right to criticise their worldviews and tell them that their ideas are wrong and will never work, it's why we have discussions.

Just because they want (in what they believe) to be in a "better world" doesn't mean their ideas are flawed and terrible.

Their early schizo ramblings were just vaguely ant-authoritarian/corruption. They went too heavyhanded with Yanqui imo, their politics work best when they're incorporated subtly into the music (the BBF3 sample, the middle eastern riff in Mladic, etc). Shit like putting a George Bush speech into the song just feels tacky and removes that mysterious element.
