So I keep seeing speaker sets turfed during 'hard rubbish' (a glorious time of year where everyone throws out their replaced things or something simple breaks and is left out) and sporadically around the rest of the calendar. Given a proper 'core' set up, ie source (turntable or digital) and amp, what could be achieved in making a wall of sound?

I'm basically thinking about amassing a collection of terrible-mid speakers. If there's some weird subculture about this, which actually I'm sure there is, I just can't fathom what they call themselves to google it.
