Used to be obsessed with them and Darnielle's lyrics. Zopilote Machine and Get Lonely are near perfect imo, but he's far too inconsistent on his other releases.

Well, I'd say that the aforementioned works are pretty much perfect as well. He had a pretty big slump at around OP's pic related, Heretic Pride is his worst work period. It was pretty sad desu. I think he's mostly recovered now, his albums are at least interesting.

Why is West Texas recognized as peak lo-fi and not this? It's more consistent.

They're in my top 5 least favorite bands of all time. I hate the term "nu male" but honestly this band conforms to that steryotype personally. Fucking John Green novels in musical form.
