Really insecure bleepchav detected
>>73911800
Nailed it. This piece of shit is largely responsible for the horrible state of mainstream production.
>>73911829
>piece of shit
It is a solid Kanye record, every track is solid
>>73911824
Burial is bleep
>>73911868
No shit.
>>73911854
I'll agree to disagree.
>Drake ripping off Burial on the intro to Keep The Family Close
>Drake ripping off Burial on the intro to U With Me?
>Drake ripping off Burial on the intro to Hype
>Drake ripping off Burial for the entirety of Wednesday Night Interlude
>Beyonce ripping off Burial for the entirety of Ghost
>Vince Staples ripping off Burial for the entirety of Alyssa Interlude
>Vince Staples ripping off Burial for the entirety of Crabs In A Bucket
welp, looks like OP was right. colour me surprised
>>73911952
I'll disagree to disagree, debate me bitch
Nah, it's pic for all the multitudes of "EDM" that has since sounded like it. After this it's the singles produced by Lex Luger whose approach to trap music has since been done by everyone after him.
>>73911954
You have some unresolved issues
>>73912000
Bad influence is also an influence I guess.
>>73911976
Not much to debate, I just really don't like Kanye West or his music. Can't put my finger on it, it just sounds like... shit. And he's inarguably a shitty human being.
Literally fucked the DnB scene for a while with the swing beat.
>>73912000
It did have influences, but I'd argue that stuff like bad companys inside the machine, high contrasts tough guys don't dance, and ESPECIALLY pendulums in silico
While SMNS had lots of good things in it, and had remixes from noisia and bare noize, the latter changed up the scene more
>>73912302
lol dude skrillex clearly changed the entire "EDM" scene more than any artist you listed whether you like him or not
>>73912371
>High contrast
>Did absolutely nothing
Are you dense? He started the liquid craze in the early 2010's along with b complex and pendulum. Skrillex made Brostep a name, but nero did it better with welcome reality
>>73912407
i did not claim any artist "did absolutely nothing" you mong
nero may have done it more tastefully in your opinion but skrillex brought the whole growly formanty bass @ 140bpm dubstep thing to the absolute forefront of EDM, and it's been up there since
>>73912440
And excision and ESPECIALLY feed me continued to grow this trend. However, it was never able to live up to the hype in the later days
>>73911954
Are you actually implying that Burial invented reverb and high pitched vocals?
>>73912223
Why. Did the media tell you he was shitty?
>>73912483
feed me never matched his "Big Adventure" album imo, that was his musical peak
honestly music just sucks right now. pendulum are our only hope for something fresh and good.
>>73912522
Why does every Kanye fan think that the only possible reason someone would dislike his music is because they think he's an asshole?
>>73912525
There is a lot of good stuff out there. Bensley, makoto, brookes brothers, Camo and krooked, nu logic, code pandorum, gridlok, and billain have albums that have been released or are upcoming in the future. Also, C&K's album has a lot of fresh new material and nu logic released some fresh new liquid
Also, pendulum will never make music again sadly. Who the fuck knows
>>73912516
you're not listening to those tracks are you?
all of the intros to those Drake tracks and that Vince Staples track feature meaningful, sensitive spoken vocal samples set against field recordings of rain and street ambience. If Burial didn't popularise that I don't know who did.
The Vince Staples track in particular completely echoes the intro to Etched Headplate.
>british woman talking meaningfully about personal relationships
If that's not enough for you, there's vinyl crackle over a good majority of 40's beats.
>>73912525
after reading this I feel incredibly motivated to start a new cringe thread
>>73912612
i only liked "come together" on CK's new album, and I dont like the jungly DnB stuff. pendulum set the bar way too high with their material.
Hugh Hardie's latest album was exceptional however.
And as for pendulum not making new music- you just can't tell with those guys.
>>73912636
rofl upvoted xD!
>>73912636
You do realize we are talking music? If I were to start a cringe thread every time grimes was mentioned, it would flood the board
>>73912680
I liked most of the album except for tagtaum. The sloth is probably the best track off the album because it gives you a good break, but feels like C&K wanted it in.
As for albums this year, it's been a mixed bag. Hugh hardie, gridlok, BSE, agressor bunx, C&K, and code pandorum delivered in such a good way with their albums, while dc breaks, wilkinson, and teddy killerz albums all failed to make me excited
Besides, who the fuck knows if pendulum will make music again. Elhornet and Kj sawka are better off as their own artists, and KP has been a flop after rage valley
>>73912302
Yeah, but Skrillex's particular approach on SMNS is kinda the standard production style seen in all mainstream electro house stuff. Comparatively guys before him or around his time like Noisia and Deadmau5 also changed their approach to fit his as well.
NOW, WAKE THE FUCK UP WUBWUBWUBWUBWUBWUBWUBWUBWUBWUBWUBWUBWUBWUBWUBWUBWUBWUBWUBWUBWUBWUBWUBWUBWUBWUBWUBWUBWUBWUBWUBWUBWUBWUBWUBWUBWUBWUBWUBWUBWUBWUBWUBWUBWUBWUBWUBWUBWUBWUBWUBWUBWUBWUBWUBWUBWUBWUBWUBWUBWUBWUBWUBWUBWUBWUBWUBWUBWUBWUBWUBWUBWUBWUBWUBWUBWUBWUBWUBWUBWUBWUBWUBWUBWUBWUBWUBWUBWUBWUBWUBWUBWUBWUBWUBWUB
>>73912784
they are contracted for another album and elhornet indicated in an interview i saw on fb a few days ago that they're "meant to be" making another album, but nothing is guaranteed.
in the meantime the greatest tribute band PENDULAM exists so they fill the space in my soul i guess
>>73912870
Noisia did do a lot of things before skrillex that were insane. Exodus and block control were the best tracks they've made, and they were years before skrillex.
But for skrillex, he did set the standard, along with mord fustang and feed me
>>73912905
Good one. One more time still is nostalgic to everyone
>>73912907
I was going to tell you to kill yourself but then I realised that quoting such a classic rusko track is actually a pretty patrician thing to do
>>73912947
I am not sure why you think that I consider Skrillex a bastion of quality. I only posted his record because he's influential. Noisia's sound is far more versatile and sophisticated, thus not the same at all.
>>73914471
His sound is shit regardless, but he did change the way dubstep was made. Then again, there was zeds dead doing the same thing at the time
>>73911776
i get where you're coming from, but giving burial credit for "dark" production in general is kinda stupid
>>73911797
Donuts is really kind of a throwback album. you're probably new to listening seriously to music and are equating quality at its time with influence
>>73911800
this is a very valid answer and probably the right one. this had a lot more direct impact on the darkness of modern production, showed the versatility of autotune outside of BEP party tracks and stuff, and was also very popular (if critically maligned) at the time.
>>73911873
2/10 got me to respond
>>73912000
Skrillex has had a certain effect on modern EDM production due to his success, but he also came about alongside lots of other brostep producers. the Skrillex sound rarely makes it into mainstream mainstream albums and singles, and when it does, it's usually specifically him featuring. he popularized his genre, though
>>73912065
i think Soulja Boy was a bigger influence on who thought they COULD produce and release a rap album (particularly online) and continues to have an influence on the flippant, silly, and DIY nature of a lot of hip hop coming out today. solid choice for most influential aughts album, but wrong for this thread, imo
>>73912258
>>73912784
>literally who
>most influential
>>73912905
it's a popular album that gets more popular all the time (Kanye sampling and then RAM coming out to big mainstream success have helped) but i don't hear a lot of French House-reminiscent production anywhere on or off the charts lately. they've had some influence on the Weeknd, I guess, but hardly with their Discovery sound (unless autotune in general counts, in which case I'd argue them being welcome on a mainstream pop record was paved by Kanye and 808s more than by their own success)
>>73914552
i posted this as a close second in my mind to 808s. kind of the Ur-Trap album
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K_h55O66uf0
>>73911776
not exactly relevant to "modern music production" but I'd wager that this had a profound impact in alt-rock
>>73914828
>OP asks for influences on modern production
>posts some random album that influenced a genre that barely exists anymore
what did he mean by this?
>>73914930
to answer ops question and to shut this faggot up
>>73911800
this too
