Burzum's the most overrated crap in metal though. Like I can see how a non-metal fan would like it, but fucking shit, as a non-metal fan you're probably also listening to various forms of noise rock, minimalism, totalism, etc. that have similar approaches to songwriting but do it much better. Burzum's for faggots who can't handle real riffs nor can they handle sophisticated takes on repetition in music.

I honestly never got why deathspell omega is so worshiped, they're good, don't get me wrong, but they feel like the btbam of black metal to me in that I see djent kids obsess over btbam when I think they're honestly just an 8/10 djent band compared to vildjarta or uneven structures

Murmuure did ambient takes on black metal while still having a riff progression that doesn't waste time like Burzum or early Ulver or Drudkh. That Pyrrhon and Encenathrakh record's first minute alone is far more intense and filled with far more riffs than whatever garbage Incantation clone you think makes for a good release this decade.
