Why does nobody buy physical versions of music anymore? Sure some people collect vinyl, but most of the time people use downloaded music or spotify. Why is this? Convenience? Something about simply clicking play on my phone doesn't feel as satisfactory compared to popping in a CD or dropping the needle on a record imo.

I agree OP, I just got one of these (wearable vinyl player), so much better than carrying a phone around
Price and convenience obviously. Even in the pre-download/streaming era most people would've bought vinyl/CDs out of necessity but now there's an easier and much cheaper option. Vinyl is an enthusiast format now.
