If there ever was an event in which some boards here had to be deleted, /mlp/ would be the first to go.
It was legitimately made as a containment board, in 2010-11 there was a lot of pony spam on most boards and everybody was unsatisfied with that.
The reason moot opened it was to probably get some more ad revenue.
It's obsolete now as there's apparently a new, more popular dedicated imageboard with exponentially more traffic - and the concept of

You don't even need to hate it to understand that this is the right thing to do.

/mlp/ is an amazing board to visit. Its like a testament to how leaving something long enough will allow it to grow and stir until it becomes a mutant that is unrecognizable to what it originally was.
