It's certainly a new-ish direction, but honestly it can feel somewhat amateurish if you've listened to other free jazz and post-bop. Not that it doesn't insanely strong moments, but the small repetitive build ups on the title track feels almost primitive and cute at this point. You've got to start somewhere, though.

You're right. Unlawful Noise is the best thing P. Brotzmann was involved with. Super high energy, varied, ambitious and flexible instrument selection. It's pretty much a flawless album.
