I am looking to start a spotify playlist of chill songs that sample old school video games. Here is an example:

Looks like it samples Sonic 06. Of all the Sonic games.
The Strokes - Barely Legal
it's not on spotify, but it's good, and you should hear it regardless, imo--'el capitano' by brave little abacus.
I want to love chillhop like this but it just always seems so disposable to me. Most of it sounds exactly the fucking same and there's very little reason to return to it after one listen.
Sometimes I listen to those 24/7 chillhop music streams on YT and while I enjoy the sound, it really does sound like all that music just kind of blends together for me. No one does anything really interesting with it. I feel like I could just listen to some Nujabes if I wanted to listen to the same basic thing but better.

Pretty sure that Beck dresses a lot of his songs with samples from some music-making Gameboy game. I remember hearing it in Girl and Lonesome Tears.
Not really chill but they sampled fucking Tomba of all things.
