Labradford - s/t

Not exactly lesser known but it's not on your pic and is far better than half of it.
>>
>>73873185
because is shit, everything after 2001 is just the same shit over and over again, literally no experimentation at all

>what are your favorite albums?
Since everyone knows most of them here is one that no one ever talks/knows about. It's fucking great, first track:

Listen to something from each of the bands on this single
https://www.discogs.com/PanAmerican-To-Rococo-Rot-Station-Clock-For-Bologna/release/144452
>>
I don't know if this is classified as 3rd wave but it's one of the best modern post-rock albums.

oops

i love crescendocore but i do agree it can get a bit tiring, which is why i break it up by having some first wave in between

i'm currently listen to pic related
>>
Any modern bands that sound like first wave? Anything that sounds like Long Fin Killie?
>>
>>73873185
Post-rock and shoegaze are great genres when you discover them at first until you realise all ther bands sound nearly the same, there are almost no hidden gems

out of these, and the ones if listened to:

This is merely my personal opinion in which albums i prefer to listen to the most.

Laughing Stock > Soundtracks For The Blind > F#A# > Spirit Of Eden > millions now living > slint > lysf > sigur ros >silver mt zion
>>
>>73874593
Why does everyone always recommend THAT Cul de Sac album? Crashes to Light and China Gate are much better.
>>
>>73874727
They're probably Krautrock fans
>>73874545
I haven't found anything that sounds like Houdini, but
have you heard Bows? Unique blend of DnB and Dream Pop.
>>
>>73874858
Yeah I've heard a little bit of bows but they don't quite scratch the same itch
>>
>>73873185
I can't seem to grasp why so many people thing He Has Left Us is the best ASMZ album. Sure, it is a fantastic album, and it has many of the best songs written by the group, but there are a lot of better albums (Fuck Off Get Free, Born Into Trouble, This is Our Punk Rock, I would even say Kollaps is better).
>>
>>73874727
their best is still Death of the Sun
>>
>>73874593
this so much
>>
>>73875296
I love that one too. It's quite underrated considering it's not mentioned a lot.
>>
>>73876182
Yes, never understood why
as much as I like their other works, I still always find myself coming back to that one
Dust of Butterfly is one of the most beautiful pieces of music i know of
>>
>>73874593
hating on LYSF is absurd. It's baby's first post-rock album, sure, but come onnnn how jaded do you have to be to hate on Sleep?
>>
>>73873185
post rock is not a real genre

>>73874593

>>
>>73873185
>A Silver My. Zion
>Explosions in the Sky
>God is an Astronaut
>Mono

Are these really essential?
>>
>>73877200
I'm the one who made that chart.
I tried to make each row of the chart represent a "wave" of post rock.

First row is first wave, second row is second wave, third row is third wave.
Explosions in the sky, mono and god is an astronaut are kinda essential third wave.

The only album i regret putting in that chart is Enter by Russian Circles. there are other, better albums that i could put there instead, russian circles are just not essential
>>
>>73877294
Doe it ever become a struggle for you to post on /gg/? I don't understand why you go there still, doesn't the retardation there ever get tiresome?
>>
>>73877640
> doesn't the retardation there ever get tiresome?
It did, i don't go there as much anymore
>>
>>73873185
one day the world will realize that Yanqui UXO and F#A#infinity are equals, and that LYSF is inferior to both of them.
>>
>>73878482
YUXO=F#A#>ADBA>LYSF=ASAO
>>
>>73879038
I'd rank Asunder at the top, because the last three tracks are very interesting. Your list is pretty good, though.
>>
>>73877200
fuck off get free isnt bad
>>
>>73873185
spiderland doesn't deserve to be nestled among such lofty company
everything else in that row is at least twice as good as it
>>
This is one of my favorite albums.
USA Outof Vietnam: Crashing Diseases and Incurable Airplanes
https://youtu.be/E5oP0azW8dU
>>
This album is fucking amazing, holy shit. If you're a fan of Post-Rock and you haven't heard Departure Songs yet, go check it out.

For the uninitiated
>Concept album dedicated to mankind's greatest endeavors, failures, and sacrifices
>5 songs, from 6 minutes to 23 minutes
>Includes choir, gliss guitar, samples, drone elements

Also you can't tell me that this isn't a fucking beautiful performance

>russian circles
I saw them live, guitar player switched to a different one mid song, and they played incredibly loud, like louder than the headliner loud
they also just played bass feedback for like 5 minutes before starting their songs
>>
>>73880195
>>73880195
Yeah but Dave Turncrantz on the drums is like candy for the ears
>>
>>73880262
I thought they were good but it was strange in comparison to the next act which was Eagles of Death Metal

But you could, Anon! These 3 Texas boys recorded an album all about it and it's amazing. https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLYMUOK-SGGltNuGmy-l7RVCKkju9lsIZG

There is a wide gap in quality between Lauging Stock/Spirit of Eden and the rest of those albums.

I don't think it's even fair to label Talk Talk as post-rock.
