Most of the early Ride stuff, I think a lot of the "Ride is britpop with reverb" stuff derives from listening to low volume where the punch of the guitars are gone.
Take a track like Nowhere, it's pretty unremarkable in the studio cut, the live version is much cooler as it really envelops you in a storm of guitar texture. However, crank up the studio version to high volume and it's just a complete blast.
Whenever I put on my Ride records I'm afraid the neighbors will get mad.
