Listen. I already know I'm about to get *fedora tip* and I'm going to be crucified for saying this, but just because someone likes a certain band doesn't mean they embody every trait of a fanbase. Not everyone who listens to grimes and enjoys her work is a grimesfag, and same for Swans. As someone who loves Swans, and I'm not afraid to say it, I'm grateful I discovered them. They opened my eyes to "patrician" music, and although I'm not a /mu/tant who only thinks music is good if it's extremely obscure, I understand where all the hate comes from. I think that if we all comprehend that not everyone listens to the same type of music and is that deeply invested into music, /mu/ could be a lot less hostile and egocentric place.
