Christgau gave this an A+. Stop and think about that.
This was the point where you learned not to take anything he says seriously.
I don't think many people take Christgau seriously. They just read him for his mildly amusing quips.
He's bad, but he's not nearly as bad as Scaruffi, Fantano, Pitchfork, Rolling Stone, NME, or MOJO
What am I looking at?

The New York Dolls reunion album. Or your fingers as you type. Statistically, it's also quite likely you're looking at porn.

Nice digits
I hate Christgau as much as the next guy, but it was actually a pretty good album. Sylvain & Johansen are better on this than they were in the 70s

The Dolls' version of Black Flag's What The...?
>>73840658
lolno
It was mediocre and disappointing, but it wasn't awful like What the... or The Weirdness. Unlike those albums it didn't tarnish the band's legacy, it was just kind of a dud

>I hate Christgau as much as the next guy, but it was actually a pretty good album
Ok but it wasn't worth an A+, maybe a B at most. The guy just can't overcome his extreme bias/Dolls worship to look at the stuff objectively.
Dolls are one of those bands that a small number of people are way too into for some reason.

speaking of albums he gave an A+, this is a literal piece of shit
It's a shame Thunders wasn't alive for it.

Anything SY did after the 80s is shit...but back when they were actually in their heyday, he insulted and feuded with them every chance he got.

Gotta agree. He always had a massive hard-on for them. Maybe they appeal to his inner drag queen
The Dolls were ok for the early 70s and dressing like women was pretty edgy at the time BUT the effect they had on rock was not good. By the late 80s, you wanted to get a time machine back to 1972 and murder David Johansen.

But, but, but Buster Poindexter!!!

Or are you blaming Kurt Cobain for Puddle of Mudd?

Maybe.
