FADER is the worst offender in this regard, with literally everything they release now being a fucking press release or YASSS QUEEEEN listicle. It's shocking that millennials choose to read articles that basically are Spotify commercials and Pandora radio recommendations.
Pitchfork at least pretends to be doing journalism, and they have actual writing talents, but they're also really guilty of the paid embedded advertisement thing polluting BNM. I haven't seen a really controversial or exciting recommendation from them in AGES.
Besides Tiny Mix Tapes, I can't think of another online-based music publication that people take seriously anymore, and TMT is like the bottom of the barrel on "possibly okay." It can't hold a candle to OG Rolling Stone, Christgau's longform articles at the Village Voice, Lester Bangs's reviews, or even blog-era college prankster Pitchfork.
The Wire is probably the only decent music magazine left, but it's hopelessly esoteric at this point for the average listener, sometimes for the sake of it, and they frequently promote artsy musicians who are borderline at best.
