Is Kendrick the voice of this new generation?
>>
>>73829747
um yeah kinda
>>
Considering he has way less talent than people think he does, yes, he's the kurt cobain of this generation.
>>
>>73829747
Ehh I'd say nah. I'd say while he's influential to all races, his music is so centralized in being black, nd black culture that it makes it impossible for a teen who's white like myself to really feel he's speaking to any broad voice of this generation. But maybe that's the problem right now is that there are so many different voices for so many different types of people who are able to get some following that there will never be a figure like Cobain again.
>>
>>73829747
Pop music will evolve, but a new voice never has to emerge to shake things up, because if someone is sick of hearing pop music they can easily find something they would consider "underground"
>>
No, Kanye is. Some of us hate Kanye, but we all want to be Kanye. He perfectly embodies the excessive, narcissistic culture of the 2010s. I still love him btw, that's just how I see him.
>>
"Generations" are a meme
>>
>>73829938
It's not like Cobain was speaking for black people either

>>73830014
THIS

>unironically marries Kim Kardashian

Iconic
>>
>>73830032
Your life is a meme.
>>
>>73830036
That's true but he wasn't speaking directly about being white. He was speaking to the attitude and feelings of the time. So although he was probably really reaching mostly white people I wouldn't say it was exclusive to white people. While Kendrick raps very openly about being black, the hardships that has come with that, racial discrimination, and a lot of times appropriation. Hell there's not one song of his I could sing out aloud in public because of the word Nigga.
>>
The fact that Kendrick had to compromise his sound with DAMN. to get mainstream appeal should tell you he's not the voice of this new generation
>>
>>73829938
>>73830242
y'all forgetting that the white majority is dying out in the western world. Hell, I'm a mulatto myself.
>>73830014
He's a gen x reppin the millennial mindset
>>
>>73830281
>The fact that Kendrick had to compromise his sound with DAMN. to get mainstream appeal should tell you he's not the voice of this new generation
i mean cobain did the same thing with nevermind
>>
>>73830281
>hair metal aka mumble rap being the biggest thing in HIP hop atm.
>kendrick sticks to traditional styles yet changes some things up
he's basically the new cobain
>>
>>73829747
Not at all
He's the voice of black people of the past
>>
>>73830348
he didn't "compromise", it's just evident of his versatility as an artist. It's still a fairly conceptual album, and besides, after TPAB it makes sense to work on making an accessible project to help with future new listeners. I'm betting it will be the OK CPU of his discog (not in terms of quality, but rather being an excellent entry into his work)
>>
>>73830513
I guess I just see it as Kendrick adhering to more mainstream sounds in order to gain more mainstream notoriety. I just feel as in Cobain's case he sort of carved his path there through his own sound.
>>
>>73830601
Kendrick has also put out nearly twice as much material, had Kurt not been killed, we may have seen a project far more accessible than Nevermind.

>Also, K.endrick, K.anye & K.urt. Wake up senpai.
>>
>>73830630
>C.obain, C.west, .CLamar.

Holy shit, you right.
>>
>>73830630
Also though Cobain didn't need to make a more mainstream album, because his sound had already taken it over. Same with Ye. Kendrick had to adapt to it.
>>
>>73830014
>>73830036
Jesus christ, these cucks are fucking pathetic
>Iconic
>For marrying a pornstar whore

Lmao ok
>>
>>
I think Ken is horribly overrated but he is still infinitely more talented than the whiny sad boi
>>
>>73829747
>New Cobain

Boy I fucking hope so
>>
>>73830936
but it totally is iconic. False modesty and universal acceptance have never been qualities of Kanye, and his marrying of Kim makes total sense for a man consumed by worldly desires. He is the celebrity that perfectly represents the average american: arrogant, vain and greedy, but all achieved through a dizzying amount of ambition.
>>
>>73830972
how can people defend this?
im not even taking the piss, is this misleading? i kinda want to know the full story since if this is true it's just kind of embarrassing for all the people that worship him.
>>
>>73830972
Samples and anyone in the room when youre recording is considered a writer technically
>>
>>73829747
not mine
americucks have the worst culture man
>>
>>73831136
This is true. Yet we still have a better culture than most because it's less rooted in retarded traditions and thousand year old memes.
>>
>>73830014
This, though people won't want to admit it.
>>
>>73831119
>>73830972
those writer names are just the legal names of the producers. not that big of a deal.

unless youre one of those weirdos that think rap is illegitimate unless the artist builds a computer from scratch and makes his own shitty beats.
>>
>>73831119
>what are samples
>what are producers
>>
>>73830042
So is yours
>>
>>73831119
>features
>samples
>anyone in the room while you're recording
I will say that hip hop is the only genre where the artist isn't expected to make an album by himself
>>
>>73829747
>Kendrick is still alive and has no suicide in sight

No
>>
>>73830014
Sure.
If you are a nigger-manlet than Kanye is your guy. Also if you are below 90iq you will be very impressed by his ezcentricism.
