The song I like most is probably Nobody Home, just because it's about such a personal subject to me and I'm really proud of being able to finally get it out there. Think the back half is pretty damn good in particular. Also has gotten a ton of Have a Nice Life comparisons, so that's cool.

Most other people seem to like Armadillo the most. It's the catchiest and has a pretty relatable subject matter I guess.

>QOTD: What song do you like most on the album you're posting? Sell people on it.

Probably Dark Eyed People. If I'm being honest I'm not sure it turned out exactly as I wanted, but for the most part I really am quite proud of it, particularly the first half. I originally intended it to be a solo acoustic piece, though I figured people would get bored with a 9 minute song that's largely just unaccompanied acoustic guitar, so it was a nice surprise to be able to add that other instrumentation and have it work surprisingly well. It also probably has the clearest influence from American Primitive Guitar on the album, which is a genre I've really enjoyed during the past year or so, so I'm pretty pleased with that coming through. It may be taking a bit too much from the toolshed of something like Jim O'Rourke's Bad Timing but eh who cares. I'm just happy it sort of works.

I think I like Let Me In the most. It's sort of from the perspective of my brother who just got out of a huge relationship and he and all of us were totally destroyed by it, so it means quite a bit to me. Musically, I think it's one of my best melodies and progressions, and a decent vocal performance that you can barely hear. It's certainly the deepest song on the record, (eq-wise) because everything from the guitar to the bass to the vocals all have a decent amount of low end, and then of course the giant outro type thing, and then the song ends on just the main guitar and another guitar twinkling in the background. I think it's my favorite song I've made, the song seems to be very Blue in my mind.

doesn't sound easy, but believe it or not, that's not too far off from one of the song ideas I'm working on. more like a ghost drifting into a supernatural tornado to see what it feels like and being carried through the West in 1905 though

>>73819840
that's a great song for sure, Samworth's Summer Journey is my favorite though. it just has such great Elliott Smith vibes without feeling like a straight rip. and so many memorable moments throughout, whether it's the breezy guitar work during the first "daaaah-dah-dadah" part, or the tremelo part a few minutes in that devolves into something like a tornado, and that final pop. i'm super jealous of your voice desu. has such a nice timbre to it.

For me, I choose The Flight Will Resume (Followed by Patron or Rose Saint Avenue, but those are a different story ;) ). The Flight Will Resume might be incredibly slow or static to an average listener, but for me, it's the "trudge to light" following not only one of the worst summers of my life, but one of the worst periods of depression in my life. In many cases, I was suicidal, and nearly planned to take my own life (all of the songs in Into The Storm. reflect on this period of my life). But this one especially, despite its depressing exterior, was a song that I felt extremely proud to make, a sense of melancholic hope for (part of it being that the song was written at the near end of my period of depression, when started to feel fine). So yeah. Sorry to go off on a tangent.

Sorta off-topic here but I'm feeling like I've put too much time and energy trying to make moves and "make it" but it all seems like a waste of time and I feel like an entitled cunt to think that I'm an artist worth amounting to such things. None of it is probably in my control anyway. It's only fans who could make such a thing possible. I just feel like giving up on hopes that I can end up being able to go on tours. It's not even about being famous or getting signed, it's about being able to perform to audiences and love what I do no matter how much I'm profiting from it or how large my audience is. To me that is making it.Trying to get gigs is so bloody difficult I'm not sure what to do anymore. Maybe patience is all i need. Just needed to vent to any who may relate.
>>
>>73822566
Just keep making music that sounds good to you, have the creative process be an end unto itself. The rest will come with time.
>>
>>73822566
how involved are you in your local scene? things can be clique-y sometimes, sure, but as long as you're out there supporting other artists and being nice, people will recognize you more.

getting shows isn't too hard, it's almost entirely two things - making friends and putting on a good show when you do get the chance. making good music helps too, but those other two things are way more important. majority of people with this kind of complaint are the type of person who just emails promotors and messages people on FB but doesn't go to shows much themselves. if that's you, no shot you aren't getting booked. just get involved

of course, this is more from a perspective of DIY music and house shows. and if you aren't talking about that, you're either not being realistic or shouldn't be on /mu/

I feel like posting this song right now, it's old but it turned out really well compared to the gear I had at the time.
The structure is similar to Boris' Flood
>it starts with 2 guitars playing simultaneously, one is slower
>then it fades into a drone part where I'm bowing a fuzz guitar
>the acoustic guitars and drum machines kick in, the 3rd part is just a 2 chord psychedelic rock instrumental
>the distorted guitars get louder towards the end, marks the beginning of the last part

it's a beautiful, slow post-rocky ambient(?) track built on a 10 second riff loop, along with subtle strings and gentle guitar playing. it's a fantastic ending to the album and definitely deserved having some better material before it instead of some tracks like IV which were just plain awful.

Nah. It has to be 1905 or 1906, not that I'm going out of my way to mention the exact year in the song. Long story short, it's based off a Kiowa calender depicting weather events over the years, and Storm Maker Red Horse in particular when he destroyed swaths of Oklahoma in 1905. They called it Red Horse Winter when it struck again in 1906. Picture related.

Thanks for saying that about Samworth's, I do think it probably is the most fully realized track on there, which is surprising considering how it call came together pretty quickly. But yeah, the way I wrote the guitar part with the picked bass line is a super Elliott-ey thing and actually made me a bit nervous about releasing it, but I'm glad you dug it.

Favorite track of yours is still probably zzz, the acoustic section already works well enough on its own but the dynamic shifts just take it to another place. Just a great closer.

>Electronic, Ambient, Post Rock, Shoegaze, Techno, Experimental

My album, Here Comes Everybody is here! Freshly released, some of the best stuff I've ever made. A mixture of soundscapes inspired by 'Finnegans Wake', the album utilises Electronic ambience, along with elements of Post Rock and shoegaze. Taking inspiration from artists such as Aphex Twin, OPN, Tim Hecker, Talk Talk, Can, Arthur Russell, Miles Davis, King Crimson, and many others. The album reflects the book in that it's cyclical, the ending loops into the beginning again. Feedback would be really appreciated. Thanks x

Thanks!

Oh, yeah. What I also wanted to say was that I'd like your page better if it had a different avatar. I think it looks a bit too silly/naive for your style of music.

Always gonna rec this

it is a short 2 song demo so idk. I'm gonna go with the first track. If you like long samples ala Mortician and programmed blast beats over really poorly recorded tremolo riffs and slam parts this is for you
