Don't get me wrong, I like Red Velvet. "Russian Roulette" was great, "Dumb Dumb" was great, "Happiness" was great, and "Ice Cream Cake" was great. That's because the group did something original and unique for all their concepts, both visually and musically.

Red Summer is bland, inside and out. It doesn't try to create a new melody, and instead overwhelms the listener with uber-cheery tropical-themed pop we've heard thousands of times. And we've called it a "summer album" from day one, reflecting the fact that it fits into an established cliche rather than occupying its own unique space in K-Pop.
