Kanye samples all the time.
The thing about Beck and Odelay though, is that it is ranked very low on overall GOAT lists because he tried so hard to take credit for what wasn't his and he failed to credit too many samples. I owned the CD, it gave credit to maybe 13 samples out of like 35.
The Avalanches, Beastie Boys, DJ Shadow, and even Daft Punk to a degree though, were in their own ways vocal about how much other content they used. Beck is just a talentless hack who hardly deserves anything he has. The best thing he ever did was influence The Flaming Lips' Race For The Prize with Where It's At.
And again, I used to be a Beck stan.
But there you have it.
Why he's not more often discussed.
