albums only you have listened to.

i don't wanna post mine
you plebs don't deserve it
I'm the psych-funk boss on this board, not you tripscum. Beat it.
Honestly never seen any discussion about this album online. Stumbled across it in the NWW list but it seems to be one people have skipped.
>>73800463
are you the anon who shared this?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=StNOwLy0kd0
Maybe someone else listened to this, but I bet none of you did.
>>73800645
That's a great compilation man
I saw it get shared a bit in /groove/
>>73800832
it seriously kicks ass. there needs to be a bigger funk/r&b presence on /mu/ imo.
>>73800991
Listening to it right now, it's pretty fucking cool.
You guys ever heard of Clive Hicks? I just discovered him a couple days ago, but I've really been digging the two albums of his that are on Spotify. No idea if he's well known or not, heard some of his shit on a college radio show that was playing hip-hop songs, then following up with all the tracks that the hip-hop song sampled.

Eddie Hazel is a gem lost to time. His California dreamin' and I want you covers are both 11/10!

Let's get a psych funk and funk rock rec thread then because I almost thought I was the only one on this board. I'll start with some more recent stuff.
>Blue Pills - Lady In Gold (psych soul)

>Wight - Love Is Not Only What You Know (funk rock)

Check out the full LP of this too

Really? C'mon man.
>>73801280
Betty is too underrated
This is a real funky and jazzy album that's really overlooked in his discog. There's a couple really lush tracks on here that only compliment the funk.
>>73801322
I never even heard of her until recently unfortunately
You cats need to hear ESG.
Really funky no-wave with a post punk rhythm section
>>73801392
that sounds interesting i'll check it out thanks man
Game, Dames and Guitar Thangs [Warner Bros., 1977]
Hazel can really flick his pick, and maybe that's the problem: despite a welcome but misleading cover of "I Want You (She's So Heavy)" and the assistance of his cohorts in the Funkadelic rhythm brigade, most of the time you'd think this was a David Spinozza record. Heavy it ain't. B-
I've listened to all the above at least twice.
>>73801226
you can catch me in most funk threads either with or without my trip on. most of those threads are very short lived and filled with lots of jamiroquai posting and one wise old sage who gets pissed off at me for posting no brainers like funkadelic or prince. if you ever see anyone recommend pic related its probably me lol. i think its a gem.

i had never heard of clive hicks but what i just heard was really cool actually. ill have to check him out more.
>>73801429
I listened to the thing and he's more-or-less correct. The album feels like elevator music.
>>73801226
Just listened to this earlier today and it was pretty dope I'm on a deep funk binge for the second time this year. Its too early for anything to have bubbled to the top but last time my favorite stuff I found was like Cane and Able, Black Merda, Skull Snaps, shit like that. I got into a little bit of the side of things, my favorite being The Poets of Rhythm's Discern/Define, although that's like 15 years old I guess. Its real easy to get lost in the 70's since there's literally thousands of forgotten gems
the Wight album is groovy af, thanks
>>73801451
Yeah it sucks these threads die so fast
>>73801508
*the recent side of things
also this <--

Not sure if you're a Ween fan, but this is a tribute song to Eddie Hazel.

This is awesome! I wish they would have done it in 6/8 though. Eddie was the king of long psychedelic solos in 6.
i found this james brown album while bored going through james brown's wikipedia page. its all instrumental funk rock. if you like early funkadelic you'll dig this

>>73800415
Shut up, I rec'ed this for someone just last week
>>73801807
You know what he meant
anything by pink rhythm

I'm a huge ween fan, so I highly recommend you checking more of their shit out. Personally I'm a fan of their earlier albums that are a little bit weirder and rougher around the edges, but their newer stuff is solid too. Listen to The Mollusk and Pure Guava. If you like Mollusk better, progress through to their newer albums. If Pure Guava is your jam go backwards through their catalog, then listen to Craters of the Sack. Above all, remember that they do pastiche, they aren't a fucking joke/satire band. They celebrate other artists, not mock/imitate them.
